VANCOUVER ZOMBIE WALK 2008: GURO LOLITA BLOODY NURSE OUTFIT, GOTH EYEPATCH.

Zombie makeup, bloody peeling skin, halloween undead brains gross makeup. ZombieWalk 2008 participants in Vancouver, BC Canada.

So, what did you do this weekend? Oh, I hung out with the undead – you know, those guys with major skin problems. We attacked Japanese tourists and ate their brains… nothing special, really.

Guro Lolita, gurololi or gothic bloody gory lolita dress and outfit. Bloody Zombie lolita boots, white lace parasol.

Vancouver’s third Zombie Walk wasn’t quite a remake of Dawn the Dead, but it was bloody close. (What, pray tell, is a zombie march? Check out Wikipedia’s entry; it’s one of the most entertaining ones you’ll read.) I’ll take any excuse to dress up as a mauled Victorian nurse, or Zombie Guro Lolita.

Vancouver art gallery gathering for zombie walk 2008, costume meetup. Bloody hand, Jesus costume, undead disembodied limbs. Peeling fake skin, gross Halloween makeup.

Around noon, the undead gathered outside the Vancouver Art Gallery (the same site as my adventure with Art Spiegelman and Count D). Fake blood and peeling latex skin were the standard attire. I spotted zombie versions of Jesus and Santa Claus; a janitor, a boom-boxer, a conductor. At 1pm, the crowd descended into downtown, led by a bloody arm dangling from a stick.

Zombie makeup, fake blood peeling skin, bloody scars makeup effects. Zombie hunter costumes, nurse outfit at Goth event.
We stumbled through the streets, lunging out at uninfected passersby and moaning “BRAINS!” (Or alternately, “Change!” “Shade!”)
Zombies marching across Burrard Bridge, bloody handprint on bus stop in Vancouver BC Canada, zombie walk 2008 costumes.

The thousand-plus horde came to a halt on the Burrard Bridge. (Someone yelled, “This is supposed to be a zombie march, not a zombie stand!”)

Zombies attack bus and sightseers in Vancouver, Canada. Zombiewalk 2008 street parade march, crazy bloody zombie costumes.

Zombies attack! Everything in our wake – tour buses, street signs – was smeared with bloody handprints and brain bits.

Zombie Walk 2008 Vancouver, flash mob meetup, bloody Halloween costume scaring old lady.

Today’s special – braaiiiiinnns!

Gurololi gory bloody lolita, Goth halloween costume, Zombie Lolita in bloody bathtub and tattered dress.

After several hours in the sun, I couldn’t wait to wash off the gore.
Dress: a vintage flower girl dress. I splattered it with red acrylic paint and safety-pinned strips of black fabric over the front. Ribbon forms a red cross over the chest.
Eyepatch: I sewed a red crucifix/white square over an eyepatch from the drugstore.
Red/black bracelet: handmade from velvet, lace, and beads. I also wrapped white gauze around my arms.
Black and white lace headdress: handmade. It actually belongs to my cat, Basil!
Red and white candy purse: Paul Frank circa 2003.
Red and white boots: From a 2004 trip to Barcelona.

It was quite surreal! After an hour or so, it felt normal to be dressed like this and splattered with blood from now and then.

Those boots have to bee the coolest thing about the outfit. And using an old flower girl dress as Lolita? Why didn't I think of that? *o*

Glad you had fun… I'll read that Wikipedia article in the morning! :D

Thanks! Yes – I've found that bridal discards can be great starting points… also, bridal stores will often make a custom dress according to your design. Pricier, but a neat option for a special occasion.

(I think the Versailles/third one is the most decidedly zombie-like. x3)
