MONSTER MOVIE ART: CLASSIC HORROR FILM CHARACTERS DRAWN BY JIM MCGEE.

Crazy eyes, stickers on face, Victorian doll outfit, earless cat in arms… that’s Miss Carmina for you! I had the honor to be inked by my friend Jim McGee, a Tokyo-based artist responsible for the Banana Brothers comics (right). If you’re a fan of surreal humor, you’ll dig everything that he draws.

I know many of you are Goth/Horror movie fans. Yesterday, I rented Repo! The Genetic Opera because of your mad positive reaction to it. And yes, you’re right: the campy/Gothic costumes, set, songs… all phenomenal. My favorite character was Skinny Puppy’s Ogre as the vain Pavi…
But I digress. The point is that – if you love classic monster flicks, I encourage you to browse and join Jim’s A-Z of “Movie Monsters” Facebook group. You get to argle-bargle over your favorite character whose name falls under each letter of the alphabet – and then, Jim will choose one monster and give it his artistic treatment. Can you recognize the classic villains above?

B is for a certain Burton character…

That’s the artist on the left. It’s pretty accurate – Jim’s a sort of Victorian ghoul running through the catacombs of modern Tokyo. And once you see my Theme Restaurants book, you’ll realizing I’m not exaggerating one jot. Once again, the links to Jim’s Banana Brothers comics and “Movie Monsters” group… get clicking!
Tomorrow – we end Street Style week with a Committee Critique from Ronan (Basil’s father)! Today’s track is one of my favorites from Repo and sung by Sarah Brightman. Has anyone else seen the film?
