HIME GYARU PRINCESS KEI, JESUS DIAMANTE SHOES. KEWPIE, BLYTHE, BALL-JOINTED DOLLS IN SHINJUKU YOUNG WOMEN'S DEPARTMENT STORE, MARUI ONE 0101.

Jesus Diamante shoes, hime gyaru, princess kei fashion in Tokyo Japan. Paris Hilton bow and lace high heels, heiress designer fashion in Shinjuku young women's department store, shopping center Marui One 0101.

On the kawaii-kowai scale (cute to scary), I’d place hime gyaru, aka princess kei fashion, near the latter end… The exploding-silk-flower dresses and Valley of the Dolls hairdos aren’t exactly my speed. But the shoes – oh, the shoes! A five-year-old girl’s stacked bows and pink lace fantasy, on top of a three-inch heel. Hidoi meets sugoi: hideous and awesome. Same goes for the heart-shaped and giant bow purses (which I compared with Lolita ones in this post).

Jesus Diamante dresses, Rococo shoes, hime gyaru, princess kei fashion in Tokyo Japan. Paris Hilton bow and lace high heels, heiress designer fashion in Shinjuku young women's department store, shopping center Marui One 0101.

We’ve ascended to the fourth floor of the new 0101 Marui One shopping center in Shinjuku. The Jesus Diamante shopgirls style themselves like cartoon Stepford Wives and hover closely as you browse. Let’s just say that I didn’t spend too much time in this boutique.

Blythe and kewpie dolls in Japan, ball jointed dolls, bjd, shop for kawaii toys and dollfies at Tokyo shopping center Marui One 0101.

The center section displays and sells dolls. Blythe, Kewpies, Dollfies… I don’t really know. I was more interested in the handmade and screenprinted stuffed toys.

Rare, collectors items, Blythe and kewpie dolls in Japan, ball jointed dolls, bjd, shop for kawaii toys and dollfies at Tokyo shopping center Marui One 0101, department store window display Shinjuku boutiques.

I’ve never been a doll person, so I don’t really know what to say. You tell me: what do you think of the fourth floor of the new MaruiOne? Would you wear Jesus Diamante? (More princess gyaru photos here.)

In kitty news… Basil Farrow’s big fat head has gotten larger. A pretty Scottish Fold girl-cat named Karma sent him a love letter with a photo of herself! She meows and rubs against the laptop whenever her mommy plays his videos. Check out more cute kitty pics on Basil’s blog.

I have a busy weekend ahead… I have to plan and shoot a demo reel, complete several writing tasks, and ship some items from my Online Garage Sale. What are your plans? You’re always free to go off-topic in the comments; this is the best way to chat with me.

Song of the Day #137: Roisin Murphy – Movie Star (Ronan just found this vid; the giant lobster and styling are hilarious and the song is so good. “You little wench!”)

I love, love dolls. However, it's an extremely expensive hobby. (I only have one, with a second on order.) My faves are actually Pullips, which come out on a monthly basis and typically reflect the current Japanese street fashion (there's an H. Naoto line and an Angelic Pretty line is coming out later this year). Blythes are really cute too. Both are highly collectible and, even though they are sort of pricey, the are much less expensive than resin ball-jointed dolls (like Dollfies). Here are some doll-related pieces I did.

I think you would probably dig the Pullips because they represent a lot of the fashions you cover here. There are some cool anime and manga-inspired Pullips too, like a Black Butler line and Evangelion dolls.

Sweet, sweet! Thanks for the links.

I also wrote before about h.NAOTO x Pullip doll collaboration (there was an exhibit at the old Marui) – http://lacarmina.com/2008/10/hnaoto-an

I really liked the styling of these dolls. Hahah, I never played with dolls as a kid… I've always preferred cuddly kitties!

That's a really great display for the h. NAOTO Pullip project. Here's a preview for the Angelic Pretty line.

The doll Sfoglia looks a lot like Maki and Asuka
Also, check out this line of dolls called Toffee. They're made of cloth. Fashion forward and cuddly!

They are basically hooker shoes gone good. I love the scary OTT pinkness of hime but am not sure how much I would wear in public. The pig toy/purse/i dont know what is pretty brilliant, it's calling out to join my collection of piggy things.

I love hime gyaru. If I get a summer job I plan on buying some :3
It's so feminine, but still alternative, and very princess like. Compared to punk/gothic things… I think it is a cuter way to dress ^_^

I adore Jesus Diamante. Alot of my style inspiration comes from there but it's horribly expensive, very impractical and I couldn't find an occasion to wear it.
there is also a point in which alot of frills and lace become TOO much frills and lace.
JD seems to be losing it's sophisitication recently but their shoes just seem to get better and better.
