GOTHLOLI OF THE WEEK #84: CHELSEA. FILM OF WEEK IS THE TEN COMMANDMENTS: ANNE BAXTER, CHARLTON HESTON, YUL BRYNNER.

Jpop cute clothes and shopping, Alice and the Pirates Gothic Lolita clothing, sweet lolita white dress, shiro loli, Gothic Lolita bible and kera magazine scans.

† Name: Chelsea
† Age: 20
† Location: UK
† How were you introduced to Gothic Lolita fashion?
Back at school I was looking at Japanese street style for inspiration for an art project, which is probably when I first discovered it.
† What do you find appealing about GL style and culture?
Before knowing about this style I was very interested in historical costume, having so many elements of this in a new dress or skirt was not something I had seen before.
† What are your favorite GL clothing brands?
Lately my favourite is Alice and the Pirates, although a lot of stuff I own has been handmade or customized highstreet finds.
† Any other comments (inspiration, tips, favorites)?
Why worry about fashion being up-to-date when you can go back to beautiful styles of the past. Also, don’t underestimate what you can do with a needle and thread.

The ten commandments, Anne Baxter, Yul brynner, film stills, Charlton heston old photos, Cecil B DeMille, best movie epics of all time, ancient egypt moses movie

Film of the Week #34: The Ten Commandments (dir. Cecil B. DeMille, starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner, Anne Baxter). The word EPIC is horribly overused — except in reference to Cecil B. DeMille’s sprawling final film. It truly is one of my favorite movies of all time (surprise, right?). With every single viewing, you pick up something new and fun: the term “bitter waters,” the caged birds in the Exodus scene… I could go on. Trust me: even though it’s a 1956 biblical drama with laughable special effects, you’ll get caught up in the ultra-dramatic, unintentionally campy Technicolor action. Favorite character: the wily Egyptian princess Nefreteri, played by Anne Baxter!

I know, right? Never judge a DVD by its cheesy “Moses parting the Red Sea” cover. :P

Ah love it!! I saw it again recently on TV. Don’t you love Claudia’s dresses and spunk? I did a post about her back in 2007 — http://lacarmina.com/2007/10/claudia-from-interview-with-the-vampire/

Claudia’s dresses are soooooo *drools*. I love her hot tempered attitude too, but then it’s not annoying, infact, she’s right most of the time. I love the part where she was in bed, looking frail but after the bite, her hair grew and she looked so beautiful. :D

I remeber watching this movie at a friends Grandma's house when I stayed with them for a while. It used to be the only movie worth watching.

It is surprisingly riveting. I love the way they exchange words… “so let it be written, so let it be done.” It gets better with every viewing!
