WHERE TO BUY ARETHA FRANKLIN'S HAT! GIANT BOW HAT WORN AT INAUGURAL. PURPLE GOTH GIRL TOP, RED TIGHTS, CUTE SCOTTISH FOLD CAT IN BATHTUB.

Aretha Franklin crazy hat, where to buy hat Aretha Franklin wore to Obama inaugural ceremonies, big silly giant hat with bow on it, cosplay anime hairstyles, Goth fetish makeup, SuicideGirls model, Akumu Ink gothic steampunk t-shirts, nightmare before christmas character and skull graphic design, light pink dyed hair, emo girl, dark red lipstick gothic, high exposure fashion modelling photos, La Carmina makeup and clothing line, two tone black lipstick, Aromaleigh mineral eyeshadows

Here’s part two of my bathtub photoshoot! I’m wearing Possessed, a comfy purple V-neck sent to me from Akumu Ink. The Goth girl print comes in both girls and guys sizes (XXS to XL) and is available on the web store. Are you excited yet for our fashion collaboration???

Onto the hat — yes, that glorious bowed monstrosity sitting atop my head. I found it on sale at Timeless on Melrose, previously mentioned as one of my favorite LA shops. Had. To. Have. It wasn’t until later that I realized it was the splitting image of Aretha Franklin’s infamous hat, which she wore to the Obama inaugural! Poor earless Basil Farrow looks like he’s horrified by what I’m wearing.

Need a creativity boost? My tip: visit a library! Today, I borrowed a stack of Korean and Indian cookbooks, Miyazaki DVDs, Murakami novels and more to tide me over the Yuletide. I also had fun flipping through design magazines that I wouldn’t usually read. Whenever I find something inspiring, I make a note in my text messages and save it as Draft, or snap a photo using my cell phone. The books are free — so why not pick up something you wouldn’t usually buy?

On that note, a big thank you to everyone who ordered my books for your local libraries. If you’re still doing your holiday shopping or putting items on your wishlist, please consider my new releases, Crazy Wacky Theme Restaurants and Cute Yummy Time. It’s been wonderful hearing from all of you who have enjoyed the books!

I’m enjoying playing around with 2 tones … it’s a neat idea for blunting an extreme color like black.

I personally think that hat is dahhhling. Just positively adorable.
It totally reminds me of the 20′s and flappers, too!!~

I’ve read as many of his books as I can find! Which ones are your favorites? I’m currently reading A Wild Sheep Chase.

Same here! My absolute favorites have got to be The Wind-up Bird Chronicle and the short story collection The Elephant Vanishes! I read Dance Dance Dance which is in the same “series of the rat” as A Wild Sheep Chase, but I have yet to read that one. Maybe it will be my next book~

Noboru Watanabe! ;)One of my favorites from The Elephant Vanishes is Family Affair (about the brother’s reaction to his sister getting married) — he’s a master at capturing inexplicably awkward relationships.

I’m more a Cinnamon type of person! c: Tragic attractive young men earn my approval. (ha)

I loved Sleep because of how surreal it is. This woman suddenly cannot sleep and Murakami takes you inside her mind as she struggles to really understand what she wants. And of course the way it ends is so impressive and vague it just keeps you wondering about her. It really is a work of art!
And you’re completely right. Murakami has a way of letting us encounter the most natural (or not!!) human interactions vicariously through his writing. His short stories especially are just these elaborate normal lives that seem so familiar but then twist and reveal something shocking. In that regard, he’s one of my favorite authors. ;D

I was sadly disappointed by Sleep. I loved Windup Bird Chronicles (the first thing by him I ever read), Sputnik Sweetheart, and The Elephant Vanishes.
As much as I love his novels, I think the short story is where he really shines.

    • http://www.lacarmina.com lacarmina

I haven’t read Sleep. The only Murakami novel that I didn’t think was outstanding was After Dark – though I must admit there are bits in there that stayed with me.

“after dark”, that is the one i meant. why did i call it “sleep”? >.<
but i agree, there were some parts of it i really liked but overall it didn't satisfy me.

I didn’t like the dreamy parts where her sister is asleep… I did enjoy the vivid nightscapes of Japan that I know and love!

I’m kinda bummed out about the fact that we don’t have a nice library here where I live. It would be nice to get a creativity boost from books. But sadly, that’s not possible. I think I’ll have an attack of allergies instead.
