DAVID BOWIE BIRTHDAY PARTY BASH AT DON HILL'S NYC! GLAMDAMMIT & DANCES OF VICE CLUB NIGHT, BOWIE COVERS BY AMBITIOUS ORCHESTRA.

Let’s finish up the New York nightcrawls… and then we’re on to sunny LA! I had dinner at Otto (a comfy Italian restaurant) with Doe Deere and Mark of Lime Crime Makeup. We holed up in the bathroom and she painted my lips with her lavender shade, D’Lilac. (We’ve concluded that this color was made for me; you may recall I also wore it at my Giant Robot signing in LA.)

It was David Bowie’s birthday, which called for nightcrawling in style. I wore sparkle dots on my face and my rainbow Vivienne Tam shirt in his honor. Doe wore a pastel tutu skirt she made herself and disco silver mouse ears.

Shien of Dances of Vice greeted me in a silver bodysuit that her boyfriend made. Andy Warhol (or his doppleganger) would have been pleased.

Although it was a rainy Sunday night, Don Hill’s was packed with downtown boys, stylish as ever.

A David Bowie event always draws out the club kid glitterati. Vanity Society NYC’s turban and heart eyepatch = yessss.

This Ambitious Orchestra is always fun to watch, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed their all-Bowie set. Benjamin Ickies kicked it off by singing Changes accompanied by his accordion. Then, various nightlife and burlesque characters, including Michael T of Glamdammit, took the mike to belt out classic Bowie tunes… and dance around, and take off their clothes!
If you’re in New York, go to Dances of Vice and Glamdammit’s events. You won’t be let down. Long live the spirits of Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane!
PS: one more exclusive cute food recipe for you: Panda Tofu Yau Choi! Dark leafy greens and tofu are good for you — and especially nice to eat when they’re arranged to look like two playful pandas. There are 70 other kawaii-faced characters you can cook in my book, Cute Yummy Time.
