NEW ORANGE HAIR! SPECIAL EFFECTS BRIGHT ORANGE COLORFUL DYE, JAPANESE MODERN HAIRCUTS. LACE GLOVES, VAMPIRE CAPE.

I’ve been teasing you on Twitter about my new hairstyle. I hinted that I was hacking off a lot, and dying it a color I’ve never touched before. How many of you guessed… napalm orange explosion!?

My stylist dyed the top layers “milk chocolate” brown. Underneath, he bleached segments and painted them with two types of colored dye: Special Effects in Napalm Orange and Urban Shock Color Craze.

He kept most of the length, but added layers and majorly thinned it out with a razor. (My head feels so much lighter now!) The part falls to the right, with short orange bangs under to create depth.

I kept my makeup simple, mixing various indie/bright makeup brands.
Sugarpill: black eyeshadow over the top crease (gifted).
Cuberry: light brown mineral powder across the lid (gifted).
Medusa’s Makeup: white eyeshadow to highlight the inner eye.
Aromaleigh: Melancholia lip creme from the wonderful Gothic Lolita collection (gifted).

Vampire cape: Black Peace Now, from Closet Child Harajuku (see store photos)
Dress: gifted from Gloomth — love their clothes!
Long black lace gloves: Spider, Hong Kong Lolita brand
Choker: A strand of black lace

I recommend printing out photos of haircuts/colors to show your hairdresser. I brought some of Gurobuturotta’s snaps from the Tokyo Hair Festival. Japanese dye and styling techniques are in a world of their own.

Did I surprise you with my new hair? The orange is bright now, but it’ll be interesting to see how the color fades out. Check back soon — I have more surprises in store for you on this blog! Hint, hint: love hotels, Hello Kitty and fetish photoshoots…
