VERSAILLES CUBAN RESTAURANT, WEARING SUGARPILL MAKEUP BY SHRINKLE. TOKYO GOTH CYBER CLUB VIDEOS.

VERSAILLES CUBAN RESTAURANT, WEARING SUGARPILL MAKEUP BY SHRINKLE. cuban food in los angeles, visual kei makeup facepaint, cuban la cafe, cheap eats in california, TOKYO GOTH CYBER CLUB VIDEOS.

As we were driving to the Yoshitaka Amano art gallery opening, Yukiro glanced out the window and saw a sign: Versailles Cuban Restaurant. “We have to go,” he said. I said the food didn’t look very appetizing. “But it’s called VERSAILLES! We must!”

Yes, we’re ridiculous. And we did end up eating there, simply because of the name. The Cuban dishes weren’t impressive, but our makeup certainly was. (Learn how to achieve the Evil Queen look in this video.)

ethiopian food in los angeles, meals by genet, little ethiopia in la, fairfax village, african food, girl with heart drawn on cheek

Inadvertently, we frequently end up wearing something head-turning to restaurants (because we’re heading to a club straight after). Have you ever had Ethiopian food? There’s a Little Ethiopia neighborhood in LA. All the little dishes at Meals by Genet are made from scratch, and you eat by scooping it up with spongy bread. Pricey, but the food and honey wine are exceptional.

KYOTO THEMED RESTAURANT IN SHIBUYA, KYOUMACHI-KOI-SHIGURE. GOTH GROUP DINNER AT TRADITIONAL JAPANESE STYLE RESTAURANT, TOKYO.

Actually, scratch that. Even if all we’re doing is going out for a casual dinner… we still look kind of scary! (See more photos of the Kyoto-themed restaurant in Shibuya, Tokyo.)

Thankfully, in certain eat/drink situations — say, a Japanese absinthe bar — the crazier the outfit, the more you fit in. You can look forward to upcoming photos of certain infamous Visual Kei bars…

… and videos of Tokyo nightcrawling (such as my DJ SiSEN, Chihiro and friends video above). Please take a look at the many videos on my YouTube channel if you have a few minutes — quite a few of them feature Japanese theme restaurants and Goth clubs. And there are many more to come…

Same goes for Horror High School (new trailer above). Hope you’ve done your homework, because more ghastly episodes – starring Professor Fearstone / Candyman and featuring cute Japanese Goths and Lolitas – are on the way! Keep watching the Facebook page and www.horrorhighschool.com for updates…

Do people ever give you a hard time for the way you dress? How do you deal?

Do you ever feel self-conscious when people stare at you? It usually never seems to come across in your blog posts, but I was just curious, since you do seem to be hinting at it here.

We get used to it… it’s been this way for over 10 years ahah. People always look or ask if they can take photos, and it’s fine. We’re friendly; we don’t bite. :P

Basically, the alternative — to dress down — is far more terrifying than having some random weird stares or comments.

        That’s good to hear. ^_^

I’m naturally very shy, so it’s hard for me sometimes – a group of girls laughed at me and my boyfriend (who was wearing six-inch platform boots) last weekend, actually – but mostly, I’ve just found the often googly-eyed people to be more amusing than anything, especially when they seem to think they’re being subtle. (People have this strange impression that when I have my sunglasses on, I somehow can’t see them, so they openly stare instead, hahaha!)

As for dressing down, tell me about it! I go to a college where the uniform is practically sweats and a hoodie. Northface is my enemy there. But having people stare at me there is so much better than ever wearing sweats! Plus, everyone instantly identifies me as the girl who wears black, hahaha.

I sometimes love to just look straight at them when they’re doing that. They always get so flustered!
Other than that, I usually just ignore them… Nothing scares people more than insignificance, and just looking past them like they’re not even there lets them know I don’t care about their opinion… or that they look so ordinary I didn’t notice them. HAHA.

Still, I have to admit that I always prefer to live somewhere where I’m not (as) constantly heckled, which is probably why I like living in big cities…

You ask if people give me a hard time because of the way I dress. Sometimes they do, sometimes I will walk down the street in one of my bizarre crazy outfits and get stares. But guess what – I don’t care AT ALL. My fashion sense is what makes my self esteem go CRAZY. If I cared what people thought about me, I wouldn’t have the guts to go out to classes on a normal day and wear my full steampunk outfit :P

its actually hard to tell when people really like your outfit and when they are joking about it, a lot of the time I will tell them what I think of what they are wearing. Or, even if they are being rude, I will tell them “thank you” and blow a kiss, and then strut away, makes them so mad ^_^

Sometimes those who are hassling someone else for the way they dress are looking for a reaction as an ‘excuse’ to commit violence. Often the best response is no response and if your instincts say ‘this is a bad situation’ then it probably is. Otherwise, yes, just thank them for the compliment and be done with it… or hire Basil Farrow to Sumo wrestle them into submission.

Yes I am very familiar with the Ethiopian town. I’ve never had the food, but I work just 5min away from it and pass through it every time on my way to work.

Ya its funny because living in OC, CA everyone is always dressing in jeans/skirt and t-shirt. I don’t really see anyone take much risks in fashion so whenever I dress the way I normally do, my friends won’t flat out insult me, but they always make little comments saying I’m “dressing up” or I’m wearing something weird but when really that’s the way I dress casually. If certain friends of mine saw me when I do dress up, they would be probably be shocked. But when I go out, I try my best to not dwell on those thoughts and just try to be myself and not be apart of the “norm” SoCal fashion of beachy casual or indie rock because its just not me.

There isn’t too many people in my home town that are overly alternative. We have a really cute/goth store just opened locally.
Unfortunately most of the people that live in my home town are anything but alternative and think of you like you’ve just been dropped off from space or fallen and bumped your head..
Many people get bullied and that for dressing “different”.

I try to dress the way I feel but you do get the looks and the pointing. I laugh and pity them for not being individual..too many people are sheep..haha

    Take care out there! {>.<}
