GOTHS IN HOT WEATHER: DOLCE & GABBANNA CORSET, CHURCH VEIL SCARF, GOTHIC VICTORIAN DOLL DRESS.

Summertime, and the living is… hard for Goths who want to shield their porcelain skin from the sun! My favorite methods are flamboyant hats, parasols and scarves. My current favorite is this pretty Katie Crinkle Scarf, gifted from Affordable Scarves. The fabric is light-weight and runched, making it easy to carry around in a purse. And it can be worn in a variety of ways: around your neck, on your waist, or as a translucent veil.

Corset: Dolce and Gabbanna. Got it for a steal, at a Paramount Pictures movie wardrobe sale.
Black lace “apron”: It came with a Peace Now tank top I got from Closet Child Shinjuku.
Vertical striped skirt: Algonquins, from the shop across Marui One Shinjuku.
Rose-patterned tights: I’ve had these tights for years.
Grey fabric ankle boots: gifted from London Underground Shoes. There’s a close-up in the first photo.

While doing my nails, I spilled black nail polish on my bedspread and ruined it. On the bright side, I think my nail art turned out rather well. Using fine-tipped Daiso nail art polish, I painted each nail half white, half black along the diagonal. Then, I swept across a contrasting stripe and finished with a clear top coat.

Rainbow clip-on hair extensions: I’ll have better photos of these in an upcoming post.

Zebra band silver ring: gifted from Silver Treats (you can get it here.) The sleek sterling silver ring is handmade in Bali.

For once, I’m dressed appropriately to be inside a church. Or perhaps not?

    It is soooo humid in Japan right now that make-up melts off! i have my favorite h.Naoto Honey hat i bought a couple of years ago in Harajuku that I sometimes wear. Other than that, it is all about the sun block to try ot keep my skin pastey white..lol.. of course using a parasol works wonders too. ;-P

      Mushiatsui = X__X. Sun block, yes! So important… though it doesn’t prevent you from tanning, at least in my case. Are the mosquitoes eating you up yet? I was in Tokyo this time last summer, and got 20 bites.

    I have a dark red scarf, but I only wear it in winter! It’s quite a long one too, I let the front peep out of my coat, around kneelength, and I have it wrapped around my neck, and slightly on my back to prevent it from falling!

    If that made any sence… >.>

    Scarves should always be light, because if you are trusting a piece of fabric to be your source of warmth you are sorely mistaken in my books. That and I look so epic with long hair and scarf going full speed on a bike. Wish I had a good bike photographer-friend-person……

    Last year, I had been wearing scarves almost with every outfit, in all different kinds and patterns. I don’t wear them as much as I did then though, but as I was cleaning up my closet, I realized I have many nice scarves and I should be wearing them more often. My favorites are a black and white striped one and a red one that has thin silver lines across it. ^^

      I’ve found there are so many ways to wear scarves… as a wrap skirt, on the head, as a belt… I love my skull scarves!

    On hotter days, I dress in more of a casual J-Rocker’s style or clothes that I order from Korea~ <3 YesStyle is my friend lol
    I like that corset, though… not much of a D&G fan, but it's nice.

      I hardly own any “luxury brand” items like D&G, but I loved this one (and got it for a really low price). It’s funny what you can find… like the crucifix ring is from Guess!

        Ironic! XD Same here, except I own a perfume from Dior, cologne from Bvlgari (the black one) that I had to save up for >_> The rest of my brand name stuff I scrape from whole salers, friends and eBay and Amazon because, as you said: “We’re young and poor” lol

    My favorite kind of scarfs mmm I must say they have to be light fabric and dark colors but I usually fall pretty fast for the black & white ones XD!!! or bloody red ones ñuñ!!!

      haha thanks! I got it in… 2003. I think it was marked very low because a) it was a movie wardrobe sale and they just want to get rid of things, b) it’s quite small, so not that many people could fit in it.

    the boots might be a bit much for a church but I think you’d be fine for American Churches (note when visiting Italy, esp. the Vatican they frown on shorts, sandals, tank tops, and well skin in general). I love the outfit though! Its been forever since I responded due to my moving ^^n
