VISUAL KEI MAKEUP TUTORIAL VIDEOS: VIDOLL, PHANTASMAGORIA, 12012.

How do our favorite Visual Kei J-rockers transform themselves into space oddities? I always picture them yelling out, “Let’s Get Visual!!” ZAP, a lightning bolt and instant transformation…

The reality is only slightly more mundane. The “Style Council” segments from the Cure Japanese Rock Collection DVD follow three artists from fresh-faced to Visual Kei-ed. (I’m in a punny mood; forgive me.)

I previously posted a link to the makeup tutorial starring Kisaki of Phantasmagoria. The one below features Giru from Vidoll; I like how he put sparkle-dots between the spider-lashes:

Tooru from 12012 wears (relatively) more subtle makeup, but his hair is straight out of Dragonball!

Which one do you like best? What do you think of the no-eyebrows look?

Song of the Day #52: Yoko Oginome – Dancing Hero (a Japanese cover of the Angie Gold hit, “Eat Me Up.” The costumes are phenomenally bad in the best possible sense! (Watch below.)

I love these tutorials ^___^ I sometimes try them out for fun.
And one question about the Song of the Day: Is that dress made of paper rosettes? It looks pretty cool xD I admire the singer for actually looking cute in it!

Isn’t it amazing? 80s Japanese Italo Disco! I think it’s made of a paper-like fabric, but perhaps I could imitate the look with paper…

Ah, I remember these tutorials! They're very helpful and amazing to watch when seeing the transformation.

Totally envy their makeup and hair abilities although. XD

i think if i shouted 'LETS GET VISUAL' and i was suddenly visual kei-affied, that would be amazing XD when asked how they do their hair/makeup, the guitarist from Suicide Ali said they were born that way xD

Ooh, nice tutorials! I really like Giru's super-detail eye-liner brush. Gotta get me one of those…. :)

BTW, the reason they can get their hair to stick up so easily is because it's practically fried. When I saw Versailles close up at A-Kon last summer, you could tell their hair's been through *many* weird treatments to get it to be in that state. It looks really weird close up, but it looks great in pictures~<3
