GOTHLOLI OF THE WEEK #78: MALISA / CHIBI. FILM OF THE WEEK: HIROYUKI NAKANO'S SAMURAI FICTION.

Australian Gothic Lolita wearing Moi Meme Moitie dress designed by Mana Sama of Moi dix Mois, Malice Mizer. Pretty young Asian goth girl, teenage Lolita age 14 from Melbourne, Japanese schoolgirl fashion photos

† Name: Malisa / Chibi
† Age: 14
† Location: Melbourne, Australia.
† How were you introduced to Gothic Lolita fashion?
Mum told me about all the fashion in Japan (She told me when I was little but I couldn’t remember how old I was back then) and she mentioned Lolita. When I heard the name, I found it somehow catchy and cute so I researched it on the net and found out more about it. I love all the Lolita styles but I fell in love with Gothic Lolita.
† What do you find appealing about GL style and culture?
I find GL is very elegant and more mature than other styles. People also said it suits me. I’m not really a bubbly kind of person so I feel weird wearing a Sweet Lolita dress etc. The lifestyle of a Lolita fascinated me. I believe they live in a world full of love, kindness and their activities and the way they speak is very polite and nice. It’s like when you are a Lolita, you would think yourself as a child, doll-like. ^^
† What are your favorite GL clothing brands?
Metamorphose, Moi-Meme-Moitie, MA/MAM, Angelic Pretty and many more but those are my most favorites. ^^
† Any other comments (inspiration, tips, favorites)?
Lolita fashion isn’t well known around the world yet so if you are an overseas Lolita like me, you should be confident and proud of what you are wearing because I know when you walk on the street in your loli clothes, people may laugh or tease you or even compliment you. Say thank you with a smile when they say nice things to you. If they laugh at you or anything like that, just reply with a smile and keep walking… People usually ask me, ‘why do you wear that?’ I reply, ‘Why not?’ and smile. :) Just be yourself <3

Samurai Fiction film by Hiroyuki Nakano, Cannes award-winning Japanese samurai ronin movie, Kurosawa inspired, Kill Bill, Tomoyasu Hotei rock star musician acting in movie, Toshiro Mifune sword

Film of the Week #28: Samurai Fiction (Tomoyasu Hotei, dir. Hiroyuki Nakano). If you’re a fan of 1960s samurai flicks – Toshiro Mifune’s Yojimbo, Zatoichi, Lone Wolf and Cub – then you will go giddy over the allusions. Nakano cut his teeth as a music video director, which shows in the slick cinematography. Hotei is a rock star who plays the bad samurai AND scores one of the best surf-rock soundtracks in existence… I enjoyed this Cannes award-winning film so much that I watched it again the next day!
