BLUE TOKYO AT NIGHT: COOL NIGHTLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY. JAPAN AFTER DARK, GLOWING NEON LIGHTS, WALRUS & HIS BUCKET.

Tokyo is blue, dah-ba-dee dah-ba-dah… As I was sorting through my old Japan files, I found a number of intriguing photos with a blue theme that I thought you’d enjoy. Here I am at Midnight Mess in October 2008 with dramatic eyelashes and horns. (Tonight, who’s coming out to Midnight Mess at Shinjuku Club Marz??)

That same night, Selia twirled around the stage and enthralled us with his operatic vocals.

Club Hoop in Shinjuku is small but sweet destination for Goth nights. DJ SiSEN’s white spiky wig glows under the circular logo. (See more Tokyo Goth club photos in my guide.)

At night, Shinjuku’s skyline is electric.

I snapped a photo of the TV in a karaoke parlor — and didn’t realize until later that it displayed the Walrus and his Bucket! (A popular and funny image macro meme.)

Zima is a strangely popular drink in Japan. Whenever I see the sign, I think of the MadTV character Rusty.

I leave you with the glow-in-the-dark walls of the Yurei (ghost) themed bar. There are more photos from this spooky izakaya in my book Crazy Wacky Theme Restaurants: Tokyo (click for info).

Fabulous news — looks like I’m extending my stay in Tokyo for another excellent TV opportunity… bear with me, I have a million photos and videos of my spooky Japanese adventures on the way.

Jeese I can’t get enough of your blog always interesting stuff to learn, discover, and share.

Blue is a very interesting color – especially if you do some research with color psychology and learn a correlation between the color and expected behavior. Blue is first off a calming, soothing, and relaxing color. People can stare at the ocean for 1-2 hours and forget the miseries, hardships, or concerns they have in life and feel they have a better future ahead of them. When the sky is clear and they see a blue sky with the sunshine, the majority of people feel better.

I personally like it in the day time, evening – bleeding sky with the sunset’s last bit of light and the blue, night – THUNDER AND LIGHTNING!!! HAHAHAHA!

A doctor tells you take a pill, you find it to be the color blue and they tell you it’s a depressant. Well you’ll certainly sense it to be true – but most of the time they’re nothing but placebos, and the color along with the doctor’s word is the thing reinforcing the patient that this pill will calm him/her down.

Isn’t that interesting – the exciting, electrifying, nocturnal Tokyo having blue lights which in a sense are really supposed to calm people down instead of getting them excited? I mean it’s pretty ironic huh? But then again – of course blue isn’t the only color in the Tokyo streets.

Also in some cases (I did some research for this) it seems that the color blue can actually prevent crime. It’s not a cause and effect kind of thing but there is a correlation between blue lights and the crime rate being lower. In fact it even says that a railroad company installed blue lights in its stations to prevent suicide attempts. Interesting.

With all that said, the message is – DON’T DARE CALM DOWN IN TOKYO AND HAVE AS MUCH FUN AS YOU CAN!

WAIT A MINUTE…what the heck happened? Why is everything on your blog back to the middle of May? Did something happen?
