Odakaya in Shinjuku, Japan is one of my favorite places for sparkly fabric, cosplay wigs, feathered eyelashes — and other life necessities. The first few floors of the building are RuPaul drag race heaven.

Readers often ask me where to buy cheap, flamboyant eyelashes in Tokyo. In Japan, you can get incredible fake lashes for 100 to 400 yen ($1-4) — believe me, the quality matches the $15 ones from Make Up Forever!
Odakaya has the largest selection of colorful, decadent false eyelashes. The prices range from 100 to 1500 yen.
Daiso sells long fake lashes for 100 yen, with tiny lash glue tubes included.
Bodyline in Harajuku has gemmed and feathered lashes at the counter for 100-400 yen.
Don Quixote also stocks inexpensive lashes. I got my feathered ones at the Shinjuku location.

How to get to Odakaya? Go out the east exit of Shinjuku station, walk across the street and slightly to the right (past Studio Alta), then turn left. Look for the blue and white Odakaya sign. For maps and more, please refer to my Tokyo Goth Lolita Punk shopping guide.

Would you go crazy in a store like this? Anyone working on DIY projects right now?

I like the accessories at Bodyline. Found 100-400 yen eyelashes, 300 yen knee highs and a skull bracelet. Not a fan of the clothes though..

Was in Harajuku today…. it is really quite a quiet, pleasant place once you get off Takeshita Dori… many hole in the wall places with potted plants…kinda has a shitamachi feel, actually.

Nice! I don’t do a lot of DIY costumes these days anymore, but I do remember when I was a stage actor back in high school – I would definitely go a bit “mad” over these places. I remember I was trying to create a hat for the Madhatter right before the day I was supposed to go on and play the Madhatter. Well…I would have originally gotten a regular Madhatter hat from the Internet for like $30, but it was too late. And I’m kind of glad that I was too late, though I was really worrying back then.

So I went to Diddums and got something that looked like an English Top Hat. A little bit like it. Then later on I went to Daiso and got all the materials to decorate it insanely. Boy that was fun. It ended up pretty nice too!

I guess I can get a wig the time I decide to summon up the courage and cross dress for once.

Oh by the way, the band you saw last time – 101A – I AM IN LOVE. THEY JUST ROCK! Noah’s vocals are SO HAUNTING! THE BASS LINE IS SO DAMN GOOD!!! I think I’m going to buy all their albums all at once. It’s just SOOO GOOOOD!!!

    I love “Eugene” and “Shihen!”

False eyelashes are available in a wide variety of prices and qualities. A higher end set of false eyelashes will be reusable, come in a variety of lengths, and be more likely to endure longer wear. Regardless of the brand or quality of false eyelashes you choose, it is important to read the application directions very carefully. False eyelashes provide the appearance of thicker lashes and natural eyelash growth. They can, however, be messy and difficult to use.
