ARANZI ARONZO: KAWAII STORES IN OSAKA. How does alt/Goth shopping differ in Tokyo and Osaka? Harajuku’s easy to navigate; as I explain in my map, it’s a straight walk down Takeshita Doori with several exploratory turns. The boutiques in Shinsaibashi, on the other hand, are spread out. It takes a lot of meandering to find the best stores, like h.NAOTO Gouk…

Black Gothloli bonnet: Innocent World, from Osaka (store photos here)
Punk top: h.NAOTO Blood, from Closet Child
Purple short plaid skirt: Peace Now, from Closet Child

Along the way, you’re sure to meet big, smiling kawaii characters — like this white bear.

We stopped by the Aranzi Aronzo merchandise shop. Inside, there were cute bunny and bear plates, toys, crafts and books.

These little tins with superhero pandas would make a great gift.

I’ll never get tired of Japanese kawaii mascots.

Later, we stumbled upon an obese hippie teddy bear… who reminded me of my fat cat, Basil Farrow! (Have you seen the latest photos on his Scottish Fold blog?)

Are you a collector of cute Japanese stationery or toys? I had an impressive Hello Kitty collection when I was growing up…

I like the outfit. Maybe someone will be comment on the animal print and plaid or some nonsense fashion rule (is that a rule), but it looks damn cute so fuck rules.

Mine was Doraemon. LOL. Does that counts? I had Doraemon everything, BUT the plushies. I’m 25 now but I still love Doraemon and one day would love to own the plushie. Haha!

I think it works well. The animal print is a subtle contrast to the purple skirt.

I don’t think I have any stationary currently that isn’t cute… I keep my pens and pencils in a tokidoki bag (or a mashimaro one if thats being cleaned), which is laden with cellphone charms. All my personal pens, pencils, highlighters, erasers, stickynotes, et cetera are either Korean or Japanese too. Whenever I end up with regular stationary- ‘normal’ people stuff- it tends to permanently lent out to classmates who might be in need of a pen or pencil.
I’m looking at those tins thinking I might just need one for my pins and smaller sewing notions…

I’m liking the outfit minus the bonnet, it’s a very good mix and well balanced with a carefully chosen pallette so it works. Mind you, I’m a total hater on bonnets, they just remind me of how some lolita brands recently tend to release stuff that makes me think of ageplay… or that a pastel rainbow barfed on something.

Perhaps you could even make your own cute tins to hold small items… like using a mint tin and decorating it with stickers or paint? :)

Ha ha! I have those same wrist warmers (black & white checkered). Love that shirt! As for shopping, I have a broken internal GPS, so I make sure to be with someone when in Tokyo/Osaka. I don’t quite collect Japanese cutsie things, just some things here and there, but I do have several Jack Skeleton things & chibi anime character cellphone straps.

Ahh I forgot about those wrist warmers… they’re gifted from Sockdreams, I think. Or Limebarb… can’t recall >_<
