I love how in Japan, everything is seasonally themed to the max. I ate so much kabocha (Japanese pumpkin) around Halloween that my mother was genuinely concerned I’d turn orange!

Here I am with my adored pumpkin pizza — only 200 yen from Sunpierrot. Yukiro and I were devastated when the Japanese bakery stopped offering our favorite snack. Thankfully, it’s come back as “Halloween pizza”.

Naomi convinced the Norway TV crew to pick up Halloween-themed breads and cakes for lunch. The cute ghost has cheesy custard inside; the pumpkin face is filled with anpan (red bean paste).

What other kabocha (Japanese pumpkin) delights did we devour? At the convenience store, we found Häagen-Dazs pumpkin ice cream with a jam swirl. G-suS tried the kabocha pizza for the first time and loved it.

Pasela Karaoke had a special Halloween menu. (Remember when we filmed karaoke singing for Dutch Pepsi TV?)

The offerings included a witch cocktail, kabocha pizza, and this ridiculous “toast cake” with an ice cream and candy witch.

If we hadn’t walked all over Tokyo for the Norway TV shoot, I’d have gained so much weight!

It all looks so good (this is one of many reasons fall and winter are two of my favorite seasons). However, I’d gain so much weight eating all that.

I was horrified when all the pumpkin foods and decorations were taken away the day after Halloween! We ran around to convenience stores to get the last of the kabocha ice cream.

Actually…I’ve never eaten pumpkin *DRAMATIC MUSIC EFFECT: DUN DUNNNN!!!!!!!!!*

No…seriously I didn’t even know that pumpkin was a food until I was like 12 *Tarento gallery: EEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*

I really ought to try it one time. Especially kabocha; that sounds unbelievably yummy. I’m not a big food guy though. But I have a deadly sweet tooth. Oh boy…I’d eat anything sweet. Just nothing tooooo sweet. I love sweet stuff and sour stuff. That’s just how I am.

But having red bean paste inside a pumpkin – NOTHING CAN GO WRONG WITH THAT HAHA.

Boy I just gotta try more stuff besides different tea! Wonder what new snack I’ll have soon.

Ahhhhh! Nooooo! Haha. Kabocha is slightly sweet, and yuzu is slightly sour, so both might be amenable to your taste buds.. ;)

I don’t really eat pumpkins because both my parents detest it. They say it’s bitter and disgusting. I ate it a few times only. On time was back in 1997 on holiday in the US. Someone baked me pumpkincakes. They were delicious, I still don’t have that recipe :( An other time was at the home of our Turkish housecleaner. We got some pumpkin with our coffee. It was very soft and sweet and had chopped almond on it. That was really good too. I guess the secret of cooking pumpkin is to make it sweet and use it for snacks, cakes and deserts. (I understand my parents completely in their opinion when it goes for pumpkinsoup <.<)

It’s like normal pizza – tomato sauce, cheese, oregano. Then slices of kabocha on top. :)
