WHEELS AND DOLLBABY, PIRATE JACKET & RUFFLE RETRO SKIRT: PIN-UP GIRL FASHION, BURLESQUE CLOTHING FROM AUSTRALIA.

I’m in love. With an Australian fashion label — the irresistible Wheels & Dollbaby!

Worn by stars like Dita von Teese, the designs are a mix of retro pin-up, pirate, boudoir. Feminine, yet rock-n-roll.

The label sent me this Pirate Ponti jacket and ruffle miniskirt. I wore it to a TV meeting today, and it made a big impact.

Everyone loved the gold military buttons, wide swashbuckler collar and tails in the back. You can tell the fabrics and construction are impeccable. How cute is the little bow on the skirt’s ruffled hem?

I accessorized with a hat from Seattle’s Red Light Vintage, a Nina Ricci purse that belonged to my mother, and strappy heels gifted by London Underground Shoes. Yes, my hair is faded. I’ll fix it soon.

It’s rare for me to find a fashion brand that reflects my alternative style so well. I’m going to be wearing more Wheels and Dollbaby, that’s for certain!

Are you as enthralled by Wheels and Dollbaby as I am? If you could only wear one clothing brand, what would it be?

So glad you found something at Red Light! Come back soon (maybe around Seafair, when we have the Lady Washington/Black Pearl open for tours?)

Good god, those clothes are fantastic–very much me, as well!  I’m on a giant clothes-hunting mission right now because I need clothes to model Sleevey Wonders with for our blog, but I’m a 6 and most of my wardrobe is more like 10-14.  So I’m definitely going to have a look at Wheels and Dollybaby–I adore the fit of the ruffle-skirt you’re wearing!  And the pirate girl dress below! ::paroxysms of glee!::

And those shoes!  They remind me of my Fluevog Iliana Operettas with one less strap and much higher heels.  I’m going to have a look at those, too!

    Capital post, my girl!

Be prepared the clothes start from near $200 AUD for the bigger items Cardigans (and onwards). I love the clothes very muchly! Also check the sizes as they tend to be small x

Thanks for the advice!  Yeah, after I looked I saw that I really can’t afford anything there, at least for the time being.  Especially since I need to replace my entire wardrobe.  I assume from the prices that the pieces are probably actually made in Australia.  I don’t doubt that they’re worth the price–you can tell that most of their pieces have complicated sewing patterns and that the fabrics are great.  The Marie Antoinette print fabric makes me swoon!  And the cuts are insanely flattering. I’ll keep an eye on them, since the sale prices sometimes come close to what I’d consider paying if the garment completely seduced me! :)

Thanks again for the advice, especially for the fit advice! <3

Good tip! I was wearing size 8, which I think is the smallest size. The number sounds big, but like you said, the fit is small.

Thanks so much for the tip–I’ve heard of Gloomth many times, and always meant to go look.  I’m crazy about the Union Jack dress especially!  I’m going to buy it–it’s just too great, especially with the seams as distressed as possible.  There’s a ton of other things I’m thinking about, too.  Thank yoooou!!!!
