If Marui Young is the mecca of Gothic Lolita shopping in Toyko, then Laforet bows in at second. Since 1978, the department store has made itself the prime source for innovative streetwear. Famous for its constantly revamped exteriors and huge underground arcade, Laforet remains the ultimate destination for chic Harajuku Girls.

Laforet’s underground is the apt location for its Gothic and Punk Lolita boutiques. Here, you can mingle with Black Peace Now, Alice and the Pirates (a punk-themed line by Baby, the Stars Shine Bright), Putumayo, Algonquins, and Stigmata. The Atelier Pierrot store has selections from various Lolita brands, including Mary Magdalene, Victorian Maiden, Juliette et Justine, Miho Matsuda, NA+H, and others (you can read a complete list here ).

Sweet Lolita brands aren’t as well represented at Laforet. Angelic Pretty is located on the basement level. The fifth floor houses Emily Temple Cute, Jane Marple, and Vivenne Westwood.

Don’t fret if you’re hundred of miles from Harajuku… because Laforet might come to you. (After all, Burnam Forest did show up at Macbeth’s doorstep.) The next post will be on the Lolita fashion show that Laforet staged in Paris last July. Prepare yourself for a mass of runway photos and videos…
