PINK HAIR ISSUE OF KERA MAGAZINE: PUNK LOLITA CLOTHING, MAKEUP AND HAIR.

Once upon a time, La Carmina could have been mistaken for Leeloo or Run Lola Run. Since then, my hair has moved on to less Day-Glo pastures; a red dye stain on a new white leather jacket was the final nail in the coffin. Alas, I can’t help reminiscing about my fiery-haired days after flipping through Kera Magazine (11). This Lolita-meets-Punk issue is pinker than a flamingo dipped in cotton candy.

Algonquins Addiction Japanese punk rock lolita clothing brand.

Is pink hair reserved for girly-girls? Not when finger-less motorcycle gloves, fishnets, and biker boots are in the mix. Algonquins Addiction matches the model’s pink extensions with punky plaids; what do you think of the silver moon boots?
Japanese punk makeup, pink and red hairstyles.

Pink locks will inevitably stand out in a room, but you can create a different impact through styling. Kera contrasts “soft” and “hard” dos; the latter is achieved with dramatic eye makeup and teased, punky piles of hair.

Harajuku magazine fashion photo from Kera Magazine. Scans of Hellcatpunks and Super Lovers.

This spread is titled “Rock and Rose” for self-explanatory reasons. The outfits are a hodge-podge of Algonquins, BTSSB, HellCatPunks, and Super Lovers. A stellar look, but my brain hurts from so many visual elements. (Can you spot five bows, a cherry, a poodle, a key, two flowers, two crucifixes, and seven belts/chains? )

Goth black eyeliner and red eyeshadow tutorial from Japan Kera Magazine. Punk emo backpack.

To achieve this “Red x Rock” look, apply black pencil around the eyes, then add red eyeshadow with a makeup brush. Eyebrows and lips are kept subtle to avoid a “clown” look. On the left: a cute backpack from Hundred Club x HellCatPunks.

Gothic Lolita hat with flower, and Sex Pot Revenge punk loli outfit in Kera Magazine.

Other ways to dress up pink hair: Kera suggests a DIY black hat topped with a rose, or a fiery plaid skirt and faux-fur collared jacket from Sex Pot Revenge.

Alice and the Pirates, Baby the Stars Shine Bright magazine ad with sweet lolita dresses.

Everyone’s living la vie en rose! From left to right: Alice and the Pirates, Metamorphose temps de fille, Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Toxic Star.

Try a salon that carries Goldwells Elumen line. It doesn't bleed. Doesn't fade. And comes in barbie doll hot pink. Or red. Or really any color you can think of. Or will as soon as they make it. My green streaks have remained true to color for a good two weeks. No bleeding. No fading. Just parrot green and gold for good!

so you would think as time progresses into the future certain places would relax their view point. especially in college cities like Ann Arbor Michigan. But no. I just got my lip pierced a couple weeks ago, and they are making me put a bandaid over it, because it could make our customers upset…which are mostly people with hoops through their noses and gigantic ear plugs, and tattoos up the you know what. and we are not allowed any un natural colors in our hair. i always wanted green streaks. i have black hair…not allowed.
    sighs
what i am trying to say is that these girls look awesome and i wish i had artistic freedom as well. but alas bills are to be paid.

      Dear Gabe
For when ur not in work , u can buy a weft( loose bundle) of green hair on a track from the beauty supply store and use hair glue to attach it and they also sell glue solvent in the store so u can easily remove the piece. There are also clip on pieces but I like wefts because u can decided how much or how little color u want. And this gives u the freedom to leave it in for one night or one week

These looks are fantastic.I think, tho, that a stronger brow is still fine,it balances the look.

And as for employers and their dresscodes….I refuse to take a job that doesn't accept my purple hair and my piercings…Granted it limits my choices, but then again I only look for artistic or performance gigs for the most part anyway….

This is a very inspiring post! I've been wondering what to do with my super-curly, short hair… I nver even considered red/pink… until I saw the “Rock and Rose” shoot here! I'm going to college at the end of the summer and want to completely revamp my look (adding more lolita to my wardrobe, coloring my hair, etc.). Thanks for the inspiration, Carmina! ^^
