CUTE YUMMY TIME: KAWAII COOKING VIDEOS. SHAPED BENTO EGG MOLDS, ANIMAL PANCAKES.

2009 is shaping up into hearts and stars for La Carmina and Basil Farrow. The blog has migrated from a patched-up platform to the equivalent of Versailles, and you’ll be reaping the benefits. On the horizon: more DIY projects, pro photos, videos…

…beginning with these cooking demos! Every day, I’ve been cooking and photographing cute food, writing up the story, and making kawaii drawings on Illustrator. I’m bursting to show you Cute Yummy Time (that’s the official title) – but patience! You’ll have to wait until it’s released in November 2009 by Perigee/Penguin Books USA.

Here’s a sneak peek… in this video, I demonstrate how to make adorabe buckwheat and berry pancakes shaped like elephants. Kawaii! Soundtrack: Schwarz Stein – New Vogue Children; And One – Military Fashion Show; Velvet Eden – Hamono no Koi

Here, Basil Farrow and I show you how to make cute heart and star-shaped hardboiled eggs… using bento molds from Japan! Who would have thought of that? Halfway though the video, my kitty steals the show.

    Awww thanks, Olga! It was so sweet of everyone to check in with me when they noticed the… snafu. Basically, while I was moving things over, I must have left the door open… and someone decided to come in. It didn't matter, anyway, as I was abandoning the old URL.

    I always say WordPress is so much better! You should check all the plugins available (the cyberspace equivalents of Versailles Salons) :) Many are very useful!

    Ahaha I'm versed in SEO (search engine optimization)… All of my old posts redirect to their corresponding place in the new blog, so there should be very few 404 errors. Let me know if you find any glitches and I'll straighten them out. ;)

    Basil is a very adorable kitty and clearly loved. I wish I had a kitty like that; Scottish Folds are so cute and cuddly. I love their sweet round faces, they look like plush toys. he's a cutie pie. Great video.
