BODYLINE CUSTOMER DESIGN CONTEST WINNERS: SAILOR LOLITA, CAT EARS COSPLAY, VICTORIAN WA.

Dandy Lolita, Victorian Wa, asymmetrical Japanese dresses and fashion. Bodyline cosplay and Gothic Lolita design competition winners, winning entry.

Earlier this month, Japanese cosplay/Lolita brand Bodyline announced the winners of its 22nd customer design competition. There were over a thousand entries from 34 countries; the staff selected 33 designs, which will soon be on the store racks.

Big congratulations to Ryuichi from Brazil, my 42nd Gothloli of the Week – three out of his four illustrations were selected! I love how he puts an original spin on Lolita design with asymmetry and well-balanced fusion (Victorian-Wa, Dandy-Lolita). I can’t wait to try on these dresses once they’re made.

Sailor Lolita, sweet Loli doll dress. Princess Lolita, hime, red corset dress. Steampunk children's Victorian fashion.

Here are some of the other winning designs; you can see all of them here. Sailor Lolita will be a popular look in the coming season.

Cosplay outfit drawing, cat ears and rabbit ears hat, coat from Bodyline. Gothic Lolita illustration, fashion design contest from Tokyo Japan.

Many of the Japanese entries have cat ears and cosplay elements. Makes sense: Bodyline has to pick the designs that best fit its merchandising mix.

Which of the Bodyline contest winners did you like best?

I really like the cat-ears overdress (bottom right) and Ryuichi's wa-lolita design. I would definiately buy them.
But, the plaid/cat girl/lolita ensemble with the bells is just horrible. There's too much going on and the it looks like something a crazy cosplayer fangirl would wear -____-

Errr, sorry, I meant the bottom left cat-ears hood/dress (the one with the apple).

The designs sure are awesome! Even though I'm not very much into the extremely-kawaii look, they look kinda squishable 8D LOL
Thank you all so much for the compliments on my designs! I'm really happy ^^ Also, thank you Carmina for putting them on highlight, being one of the winners was fantastic, but getting so nicely reviewed like this is as great! XD
However, there's been a little misunderstanding, the Dandy Lolita was the only one not chosen. Instead, this is the one chosen:

In my Flickr, you guys can see the images in a bigger size and other artwork of my own. I'll surely be posting more costumes designs! Thanks you all once more!

Wow, Bodyline has really been improving… I wish I would have gotten wind of the design contest earlier, but it's really cool that so many cute design will be created straight from the “real” lolita community. Watch out… bodyline's going to start giving metamorphose a run for their money! xD

Oh my god your hair is on fire…

http://www.gloomth.com/r15.html <- Gloomth's Vrai Noir Overcoat is quite possibly my favourite thing ever: fitted in all the right places but loose enough to wear a vest, blouse and cardigan under; light enough for spring but heavy enough for winter; finishes your most formal, most elegant aristocrat coordinate perfectly, or adds a little dazzle to your pseudo-punk homely tramp jeans; it can be the centre-piece of your outfit or blend as a neat complement; sturdy as hell but refined as fuck; flattering on both a big girl or a skinny malink; not too costume-y, whilst managing to sate the urge for OMG MOAR RACE.

    I likes it.

    Sorry, but DAMN!
That is some fugly stuff! I mean, Bodyline is crappy, I know this, but really?
Cat ears and rabbit ears and WAAAY to short skirts?
I mean, the yellow one, the sailor, the steampunk-y one, and the other sailor one are nice and even the top 3 are somewhat okay (although I imagine that you'd get that 'too short petticoat' effect with those)
But that lower stuff! Holy, that just screams COSPLAY!

This is why Bodyline will never be seen as a lolita brand:

It doesn't understand that cat ears/short-skirts =/= lolita.
