CUTE JAPANESE ACCESSORIES & NAIL ART AT NEW MARUI ONE DEPARTMENT STORE: EMILY TEMPLE CUTE SHOP PHOTOS.

The new MaruiOne is more spacious than its former incarnation (which you can see in my Tokyo Shopping Guide). Some of my friends hate the redesign, while others think it’s an improvement. I don’t have strong leanings in either direction. The refurbished department store is easier to navigate but I enjoyed the grungier feel of the old Marui, especially the Kera Shop Arena (punk/Goth) floor.

I love how both shopgirls and customers wear Lolita clothes! The first two photos are from the Emily Temple Cute boutique on the third floor. I’m a big fan of the brand’s 1950s flair and delicate knit fabrics.

The third floor also holds kawaii and gyaru accessories. You can find cheaper (but less delicate) ones in no-name Harajuku stalls – or how about making them yourself! Find a tiny pink top hat and glue lace around the brim; add a hair clasp and you’re done. Or adorn thin gold hoop earrings with fake flowers from the dollar store…

Same goes for these caterpillar barrettes: just glue a few fuzzy balls from the craft store to a hair clip. I spent a long time awww-ing over the cute stuffed animals at Peach Club (and YES, that is a Hello Kitty lamp!).

I was tempted by these boxes of Japanese fake nails – but then, I remembered there were FIVE more floors to explore! Tomorrow, we continue our climb… What do you think of the new MaruiOne so far?

Ria says:Love that girl's skirt in the second pic! And love love LOVE Emily Temple! Their clothes are always so girly and romantic without going OTT.
My god, I swear Hello Kitty is taking over the world more and more with each passing day…
And what do I think of the new Marui One? I think it's better than anything we have here in Sydney. I think it's absolutely fantastic! Can't wait to see the other floors!

I actually meant to visit the Emily Temple Cute in Laforet, but I ended up spending all my time in the basement. By the time I was finished there I was at the point where I didn't want to spend any more money, and it was also getting close to the time where everyone in my group drifted back to the hotel where we would all meet up before going out again (to drink! :D ). I'll check it out next time though, and I need to go to a Marui store too–I saw 3 or so different ones while in Japan, but I never took the time to visit one.

lacarmina says:Sweet! The only Marui department store that really interests me is Marui One (for young women's fashion), but the others are worth a browse as well, if you have time.
Ahh, convini alcohol… hahaha. Zero Lime!
Did you end up at any nightspots?

megan says:Ah! We had umeshu from 7/11, lol. I still have the bottle–it's pretty!
We didn't go to any places you've mentioned (though one of the girls who went on the trip is going back next week and I think she plans to go to Midnight Mess)–but we did find some nice bars on our own. Two of the highlights were Zerro in Osaka (in the Minami area) and Los Cabos in Ikebukuro (I didn't get a chance to go by Cafe Pause. Next time though!).
I think the social-drinking thing was one of my favorite parts of the trip. It was a ton fun, and I haven't had that (kind of fun) here at home.
