My business, La Carmina & The Pirates, offers a number of services (TV hosting, arranging, consulting, promoting)… Recently, Naomi and I have been organizing personal tours for visitors to Tokyo, Japan. Or, to be exact, we’ve been sending our Cabin Boys (aka young slaves) to do our bidding. Seba is currently entertaining a famous TV host you’ll all recognize… we can’t spill the beans yet, but check back soon!

Most of our clients want to visit Akihabara, the otaku / electronics district. I don’t usually hang out there (we Goths stick to Kabuki-cho), but I visited many of the maid cafes for my Theme Restaurants book.

Akiba is called Electric Town for a reason. Everywhere you turn, there are bright cartoon girls busting out of tiny outfits.

The district is filled with electronic and game centers.

There are dozens of maid cafes in this area, and shops for buying cosplay outfits.

Naughty toys and DVDs? Not hard to find.

Here’s a sign from inside the Miko-san (Shinto temple girls) maid cafe that now closed down. You can see more photos of the cute girls in this post and in the Theme Restaurants category of my blog.

Hungry for more? You’ll have to flip through my book, Crazy Wacky Theme Restaurants: Tokyo, which has full-color photos and stories from the best Tokyo maid cafes.

Anyone have plans to visit Japan in the near future? What would you most like to see? You can hire a Pirate to take you around!

PS: My latest Lip Service Global Gothic column is out. I write about Tokyo’s best Christmas Goth parties this year, and the dark fashion you can expect to see.

Song of the Day: South Park Goth Song (Love the Goth kids.)

I went to visit Akihabara just once in my trip to tokyo and I entered in a video games store, I’ve never felt to observed before, every guy had their eyes on me (on my friend to but I’m tired of talking in plural xD). Is so weird to see girls around those places?

Even if I’m a girl, (I should say woman cuz I’m 27 but yeah I feel like a teen) I like a lot video games. Some years ago (10 years or so)h it was weird to see girls chatting about video games and stuff like that here, now it’s not so weird bud still…

I want to see already that famous tv host that is with Seba right now!!! I’m really curious I hope you can reveal the secret soon nmuahaha

In case I can’t see you these days: merry Xmas :***

Heheh we’re doing a big feature about it, so it’ll be revealed soon… but not yet, since the host’s trip to Tokyo is a secret!

Nice! I hope my shopping guides and club guides are helpful (links on the right sidebar).
Yes, there is a Shibuya Butlers Cafe and Swallowtail Cafe, both with male butlers. Hibari-tei is a drag maid cafe. More info in my book – http://www.lacarmina.com/tokyorestaurants.php

I’m planning on coming next summer so I’m starting to plan things to do (definitely visiting Akihabara). Your shopping guides should help me for a month and a half in Tokyo.

Although I do like Aikihabara especially for its butler cafes, girls-dressed-as-school-boys-cafes and arcades where I can beat people at Tekken, I think the best place to go for anime/cosplay affairs is Nakano which is only about 10 mins or so from Tokyo station. Its SO cheap and you can find everything!!! There are also some amazing cheap clothes shops, I especially love the army/military depot shop. I highly recommend it!!!
