Ah, a young Japanese women’s boutique we haven’t cracked before! The Egg Store is a gyaru (gal) fashion explosion. I found it while shopping in Studio Alta at Ikebukuro Sunshine City (one of my favorite spots for inexpensive accessories).

The boutique is a spin-off of Egg Magazine, the publication best known for plastering Ganguro / yamanba gals like black-faced Buriteri on the covers.

Today, the gyaru faces in Egg Magazine are less extreme. Still, the look is all about the streets, colors, and crazy eyelashes.

The Egg Store has a well-curated selection of one-offs.

There are lots of summer sales going on right now…

There’s nothing like shopping in Tokyo. I don’t buy a whole lot, but I love to look. Mountains of design inspiration everywhere you turn.

You’ll never find checkered shirts, cut-off jean shorts and baseball caps in my boudoir. But I enjoyed taking a peek into the world of this style tribe.

What are your thoughts on Egg Magazine and gyaru fashion? Have you seen my photos of cute stationery stores and toys in Ikebukuro Sunshine City? Or my new Ikebukuro shopping and eating maps?

Haha, props for the BURITERI ganguro & gonguro throwback <3
The store seems so tame compared to the looks back then; guess the wildness is just more organized/commercialized these days.
Thanks for sharing <3 EGG is still an extreme/original treasure among GYARU mags.

The wildest days of Harajuku fashion were probably the 1990s, sadly…
but the store was still neat to visit!

Oh my gosh, I really like their stuff!
My style is normally biker-punk-lolita-y, but some of that stuff was ADORABLE. :D

I enjoyed seeing this store! If you like the styles here, you might enjoy the Shibuya 109 “gal” department store. xo

    I love summer sales❤that’s crazy!!
Gal fashion doesn’t fit me either but I love to see what they have, too. I collect Egg magazines because it’s inspiring:) I admire the designers and the whole staff working for egg fashion.

It’s very inspiring… I love how the various magazines (Ageha, Vivi etc) cultivate a distinct look and culture.

I’d rock the striped/polka dotted dress and scarf! It’s mostly not my style either, but I do see pieces I’d use. I want to go shopping with you!!

That must have been a week or 2 before I got there. When I was shopping, fur was everywhere, and shearling jackets, and fur-trimmed boots…even though it be 37 degrees outside, they still had their fall range instore!! And the girls in Shibuya 109 already had boots and fall/winter attire too.

Oh gosh, that is a trend I can do without. The all-fur booties, including the heels… they make your feet look like my cat’s!

I’m afraid not… You may be able to find some through ebay or online sellers, but I don’t think the Egg store ships overseas.
