Many a boy has written to me, complaining that Gothic Lolita is all over Tokyo, but it’s hard to find elegant Gothic aristocrat / alternative clothing without breaking the bank. Allow me to introduce you to Closet Child Mens — a secondhand store dedicated entirely to Japanese menswear.

Closet Child Mens is not far from Shinjuku station West Exit. It’s around the corner from Visual Kei record store, Pure Sound.

The selection is small but well-tended. Silver jewelry, dapper shoes and glam brands like Tornado Mart.

Looks like these shoppers had a field day at Atelier Pierrot.

Closet Child Mens also sells used Jrock CDs and memorabilia. Not sure what’s going on with the clown-faced man…

I once found a Malice Mizer LP for a handful of yen, at Closet Child Ikebukuro, which also sells CDs. There are more photos of the Ikebukuro location in this post.

Speaking of Mana-sama… Moi dix Mois released a Dies Irae trailer mix (above). What do you think?

I think the clown-faced man is Yomi from Nightmare…it’s their alter ego band Sendai Kamotsu that writes songs about being gay.

I love this store! Check out limited time opportunity to bid on Japanese fashion magazines (Spring, Smart, Cutie, Men’s Non-Non) that I’m selling. I got them from Japan but have to get rid of them-

Get it before it’s gone! It’s great for pictures like those above and Harajuku-esque inspiration fashion spreads.

    Well, since I’m 8,329 miles away from Tokyo, I can’t go to the Closet Child store. Good thing I have the internet. I saw this Alice Auaa jacket in Closet Child that it’s to die for… Sadly it’s 22,800 yen. BAWWW. D;

Wow. Four years have passed since the release of Dixanadu and MdM still sound the same? Mr. Mana needs to team up with some other writing force as not to let his own ego get the best of him and produce amateurish metal songs. My two yen.

Ok…so…have you ever had a time when your parents called you up and asked if you wanted to go with them on a vacation – and you responded “no” because you honestly did have some stuff to do…but later on you realize it wasn’t an offer but more of a “family” demand. – Well shadowpal2 got sucked into it and now he’s back. Was it good? Yea sure it was alright I guess.

But I love what I’m seeing first day back home! It looks great for street wear! I tend to buy a lot of clothes from Korea, Hong Kong, and Japan from eBay. And I got to say it does cost a bit…but it’s mainly because of this shipping fee haha. Though I wonder how the costs are there in closet child.

I noticed that they sell “Vivienne Westwood” jewelry as well huh? Or accessories to be more general. I love many the Vivienne Westwood jewelry line – but if there’s anything I wanted really really bad it has to be the lighter. Not sure if anyone has seen it, but it’s worn by a character (Shinichi Okazaki) in a manga/anime known as NANA. It looks so beautiful, of course it costs a lot, but I don’t even know where to start to actually buy it haha.

Oh well…I might as well stack up some clothing first and then later on move to the jewelry side of me.

I enjoyed the Dies Irae mix – hell I enjoy anything Mana sama puts out…but whenever I hear about him I can’t get 2 songs out of my head – Le Ciel and Au Revoir. Those songs are just too beautiful for the good of my soul.

Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! きおつけて!

Welcome back! Glad you ended up having fun.
Closet Child is very reasonably priced. The mens branch is a bit more upscale, but prices are still 50-75% what they would be if bought new.

One day I’ll have real Westwood jewelry haha! One day, sigh… xo
